Railway Recruitment Board Exam 2024:


Railway Recruitment Board RRB conducts exam for recruitment of candidates for various Indian Railway Job Vacancy. Some of the important RRB Exam are:

  • RRB NTPC
  • RRB JE
  • RRB ALP
  • RRB Group D
  • RRB Paramedical Categories
  • RRB Ministerial and Isolated Categories

Railway Job Vacancy:


Indian Railways offer wide range of job vacancy for candidates. Aspirants can attend various Railway recruitment board RRB exam based on their qualifications. Group of Railway Jobs:


Indian Railway conducts recruitment basically for selecting candidates for four groups of posts. The railway job vacancy available in these groups are for both technical and non technical posts. The four groups are as follow:

  • Group A or Class I posts
  • Group B or Class II posts
  • Group C or Class III posts
  • Group D or Class IV posts

1. Group A or Class I Posts:

Candidates for Group A posts are selected by Union Public Service Commission. The commission is responsible for conducting Civil Service Exam, Combined Medical Service Exam and Engineering Service Exam for Group A Posts. Indian Railway Accounts Service, Indian Railway Traffic Service, Indian Railway Personnel Service and Railway Protection Force (RPF) are part of Civil Services Exam. Candidates for Indian Railway Stores Service, Indian Railway Service of Engineers, Railway service of Signal Engineers, Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers and Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers are recruited through Combined Engineering Services Exam.

2. Group B or Class II Posts:

Group C category employees are promoted as Group B officers based on service and performance and there will be no direct recruitment of candidates for these class II posts.

3. Group C or Class III Posts:

Indian Railways conduct both technical and non technical recruitment of Group C posts through their Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) established across its 19 zones.

a. Non Technical Posts:

Some of the Non-Technical posts are

  • Assistant Station Masters
  • Trains Clerks
  • Clerks
  • Ticket Collectors
  • Commercial Apprentice
  • Traffic Apprentice and others.
b. Technical Posts:

Some of the Technical Railway job vacancy are Technical engineers in

  • Signal
  • Telecommunication
  • Civil
  • Mechanical
  • Electrical and others.

4. Group D or Class IV Posts:

Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) conducts the Group D Recruitment for recruitment of candidates for Class IV vacancies. Some of the Group D posts in divisional level are:

  • Cabinman
  • Fitter
  • Gangman
  • Helper
  • Keyman
  • Leverman
  • Pointsman
  • Porter
  • Shunter
  • Switchman
  • Trackman
  • Welder
