Madras School of Economics is an institute recognized as Institution of Special Importance by Government of Tamil Nadu. MSE invites applications for admission to 2 years post graduate programs and 3 years under graduate programs. Eligibility for MSE Admissions:
Candidates need to fulfill some basic eligibility as mentioned by Madras School of Economics. Applicants shall go trough these criteria and apply for the admissions thereafter.
M.A. Degree:
- An undergraduate degree in Science, Social Science including Commerce & Management or Engineering.
- Must have secured a minimum marks of 55% in case of General candidates, 50% for OBC candidates belong to non creamy layer category and 45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
- The upper age limit of the candidates must be below 25 years as on 1st July 2023.
- Mathematics should have been a subject for the applicant at higher secondary level. The National Institute of Open Schooling for mathematics should have issued a pass certificate at Senior Secondary level or the applicant must have completed mathematical economic course at undergraduate level.
Note: Candidates who appear for their final year exams in the Academic Year 2023 can also apply.
B.A. Degree:
- A pass in higher Secondary level (in 10+2 format) in Academic Year 2023 in first attempt of final year exams.
- Must have secured a minimum marks of 65% in case of General candidates, 60% for OBC candidates belong to non creamy layer category and 50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates or respective equivalent credits or grades in case the marks are calculated as grades or credits.
- The upper age limit of the candidates must be below 22 years as on 1st July 2023.
- Candidates should have a strong background in mathematics in the higher secondary level.
Note: Students who appear for higher secondary exams in May 2023 can also apply.
Selection Basis:
Madras School of Economics will conduct entrance tests for admitting students to their B.A. (Honours) and M.A. degree programs. The applicants fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be allowed to undergo the entrance test at designated centers in India. MSE will decide the merit ranking of the candidates based on the percentage of marks they obtain in the qualifying entrance test and their age, in case of tie should there be any.

Candidates need to pay application fee as given below for applying for the MSE Degree Programs admission based on their category. The fee is common for all the applicants applying for any of the degree program.

- Go to Admissions -> (B.A. Programme or M.A. Programmes) based on the degree you wish to apply for.
- Click on Online Application Link
- The link will take you to the IBPS portal.
- Register yourself in the portal if you are a new user.
- Login with your Registration No and Password.
- Upload Scan copies of your photograph and signature.
- Carefully fill the application form.
- Pay the applicable application fee and Submit the Online Application form.
- Candidates are advised to take print out of the application for future reference.
