SSC CHSL Exam Pattern

Staff Selection Commission has released new SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2023. The Commission has released the patterns for the Tier Wise Exams along with SSC CHSL Notification on 9th May 2023. So candidates preparing for the Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam should be aware of these patterns and prepare accordingly.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2023:

The Staff Selection Commission will be holding Computer Based Examination which will be conducted in two tiers viz Tier I and Tier II. The Commission has announced that the Tier I exams will be scheduled tentatively in the month of August 2023. SSC in its notification has mentioned the scheme of exams as follows.

Tier – I Exam Pattern:

The Tier-I Computer based examination will be of the following pattern.

The exam pattern for Tier-I Exam will comprise of 4 subjects which are English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude an General Awareness. There will be 25 questions in each subject and the subjects carry a maximum of 50 marks each. The time duration for the Tier I exam will be of 60 minutes for regular candidates and 80 minutes for candidates eligible for scribe. This time durations is for all the four parts. So candidates need to prepare accordingly.

The Tier I Computer Based Exam consists of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions. The questions will be available in any language chosen by the candidate in the application form along with English and Hindi. There will also be negative marking of 0.5 marks for each wrong answer. Therefore candidates are advised to select the choices with utmost care while answering the objective type questions.

Tier – II Exam Pattern 2023:

The Tier-II Examination will be conducted in two sessions on the same day. There will be three Sections in the Tier-II Exam and each section will have two modules each. Section I, Section II and Module I of Section III will be conducted in Session I and Module II of Section III will be conducted in Session II.

Questions Type and Language:

It is mandatory for the candidates to qualify in all the three sections of Tier-II examination. The Tier II Exam consists of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions, except for Module-II of Section-III. The questions will be available in any language opted by the candidate in the application form along with English and Hindi, except for Module-II (i.e. English Language and Comprehension module) in Section-II.

As in Tier I Examination Tier II also carries negative marks. There will be negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, Section-II and Module-I of Section-III. Candidates are, therefore, advised to be very careful while answering the questions. Module-I of Section-III i.e. Computer Knowledge Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
